Politics has been influenced by religion for centuries. The purpose of this research project is to explore Christianity’s influences on politics, particularly of Christian ideas about homosexuality that are reflected in politics. The LGBT community has long been considered second-class citizens by their contemporary political leaders. Today it is still illegal in most countries for same sex couples to be married and in some countries it is even illegal to be gay. The work is derived from personal experiences of my own struggles with my sexual identity in our current political conditions. The work generated from this research project drives for a collective shift of power from a political climate controlled by religion, to one composed of understanding for human equality.
