Social health is a necessary part of overall health. Social interactions shape our daily lives, including our physical health. The mind-body connection has been realized in many parts of the world for thousands of years, and the western world has recently started to catch up. This study will explore the mind-body relationship further by examining how levels of different kinds of social support (family or friends) affect physical health using a survey. We will compare the resulting vagal tone measurements to investigate the relationship between types of support and physical health. We hypothesize that the correlation will be stronger for friends or family, which will show that certain types of social support have greater influence on physical health.
